EBS 275 – PICTURE MAKINGThis course is designed to introduce students teacher to history of painting, object drawing and composition, figure drawing and painting, landscape drawing I (dry media), landscape drawing II (wet media), mixed media and abstract painting. In view of that, student teachers will research into systematic developments of painting in different cultures (Europe, Africa and Asia) from prehistoric through medieval, renaissance, modern, post- modern and contemporary periods. It will also equip students with knowledge of themes, materials, tools, methods, techniques and philosophies that characterise each period, as well as the profile and artistic achievements of personalities that featured prominently in those periods. Practical work concerning drawing, painting, and the use of different media would be emphasized. It will be delivered through lectures, class discussions, individual and group assignments and seminar presentations.
