EBC 123 – UNIT ONE

This unit is to create awareness on Uniqueness and self-awareness to student-teachers, discuss the misconceptions and biases of PE-Music and Dance, transition to Initial Teacher (ITE) education and Physical Education Music and Dance (PEMD) environment and finally barriers to implementation of PEMD in ITE Institutions and basic schools.

The first section of this unit is a task  you are to do as students of PEMD.

Activity one.

Record a one minute video on self awareness with your phone or any device. In this video,
i. Introduce yourself.
ii. Talk about your uniqueness (strengths, weakness and achievements)

– The size of the video should not be more than 2MB.

– The video should be in MP4, WMA, FLV, MOV,WMV, 3G2

Ensure you click on the Assignment button and do this assignment. Dont type your assignment in the comment box.

Activity two.

As a student teacher, you identified that many of your colleagues have misconceptions about Physical Education Music and Dance.
i. discuss 3 misconceptions of Music and Dance and 3 misconceptions of physical education.
ii. Discuss 4 barriers that can affect the teaching of Physical education music and dance in schools.

The assignment should be submitted on the assignment page of the Unit two Activity two assignment.
Type in or copy and  in the space provided for the assignment.

The final part will be an online meeting with the tutors on the course to discuss the misconceptions, biases and barriers that you have submitted. We entreat all students to be present in that online interactive meeting.
